The Lord's House Will Be Established

by  Dave Miller Ph.D.

About 700 years before it happened, two Old Testament prophets, Isaiah and Micah, said that Christ's kingdom (the church) would be set up on Earth. Here is Isaiah's wording:

It shall come to pass in the latter days
that the mountain of the house of the Lord
shall be established as the highest of the mountains,
and shall be lifted up above the hills;
and all the nations shall flow to it,
and many peoples shall come, and say:
"Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of the God of Jacob,
that he may teach us his ways
and that we may walk in his paths."
For out of Zion shall go the law,
and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem (2:2-3).

Isaiah (and Micah in chapter four of his book) said four very important things: (1) the Lord's house (2) would be established in the latter days (3) in Jerusalem, and (4) that all nations would flow into it. Have these things already happened? Yes! If you look in your Bible at Acts 2, you will read about Peter and the other apostles preaching to thousands of people around A.D. 30 on the Day of Pentecost. They were in the city of Jerusalem. Peter said that was what was happening that day was "in the latter days" (vs. 17). Jews had gathered there "from every nation under heaven" (vs. 5). And the result of the apostles' preaching was the salvation of about 3,000 people who were added to the Lord's house, the church (vs. 47).

Many people today are still looking for Christ's kingdom to come in the future. But Isaiah and Micah gave details that came to pass 2,000 years ago. The Lord's house (His kingdom) was brought into existence on Earth in the last days in the city of Jerusalem around A.D. 30 with about 3,000 people from all over the world! And many more would be added-including Gentiles (Acts 10). Praise God for setting up His kingdom so that people can be saved today!

In this debate, national best-selling author and self-professed agnostic, Bart Erhman, contends that the pain and suffering in the world show that the loving God of the Bible does not exist.
