Hypsilophodon

by  Brad Bromling D.Min.

This month's dinosaur is called Hypsilophodon (hip-suh-LOFF-a-don), which means "high-ridged tooth." His teeth were shaped like triangles with a high ridge (point). He had bird-like feet and a beak, and ate plants. It is thought that he even had cheeks which he might fill with food. Maybe he snacked between meals.

We usually think of dinosaurs as being extremely large, but this creature was only about six feet long and probably held his head only about two and a half feet from the ground. Scientists used to believe that Hypsilophodon lived in trees; but they now think he lived on the ground and ran very fast.
