Was it a Ghost?

Have you ever been scared and thought you saw a ghost? That is how Jesus' friends felt one eerie night. The Bible tells us how that they were out on the sea of Galilee about three o'clock in the morning when a storm arose. It was a struggle just row against the wind and waves. They were in trouble. Just then, they saw what they thought was a ghost walking toward them in the darkness. They screamed!
Much to their surprise, they found that it was Jesus. Mark tells us: "immediately He talked with them and said, `Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid'" (Mark 6:50). Not only was that a relief, but Mark also tells us that "then He went up into the boat to them, and the wind ceased" (verse 51). Imagine that; not only did Jesus walk upon the water, but He also stilled the storm.
How would you have reacted to this? The Bible says that Jesus' friends "were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and marveled" (verse 51). This miracle showed them that Jesus was no ordinary man. He was the Son of God. This story was recorded in the Bible so that when we read it we too will be convinced that Jesus is God's Son. Because of this, we can be sure that He cares for us that God will answer our prayers.
Although there is no such thing as a ghost, there are other things which frighten us. Jesus cares about us when we are scared. Praying really does help.
